Default headers in california

its been a while since ive posted but i have a quick question......

being as there are many restrictions on performance parts in california, i was wondering what kind of headers for my 2003 hemi ram pickup would be legal and best for my truck? what are the other cali members using? i know jba makes some, but that cant be the only manufacturer, right?

Typically, long-tube headers (the best performers, especially at low and mid-range) are out. I've yet to see any certified for CA for any vehicle and that includes some in markets where product cost is not a major factor. The only thing I've seen with a CARB number are shorties that usually are not worth the time and money, giving little performance increase, but then what there is comes on at the rpm peak where few "live."

Others may disagree, but I've seen far too many dyno sheets to get very excited about shorties of any kind; mainly great for "bench racing," imho.

Now, if you're willing to yank them off every 2 years for inspection...

All the best.

mopar also makes a set of aftermarket headers for the hemi, which would give u a warranty on them as well, and i think they priced around $1200????? check out www.moparpartscenter.com

i was actually waiting for the mopar headers to come out, and when they did i was again dissapointed. it has the little disclaimer on the bottom that states something about them not being legal for highway use. i asked the parts guy at the local dealership, and he said, that its basically illegal in only california.

thanks for the responses
