Default 2002 3.7 Starting hard

Lately I've been needing to crank on my 3.7 for a good 3-4 seconds to get it to start. It did pop an evap code a bit ago (small leak) but other than that it's been running fine.

Any common issues with the 3.7 that cause this?

it would help a little... if you provided miles and your location...

being winter... is it negative 15 degrees or plus 50?

last time the plugs were replaced??????????? air filter??

and the evap could be gas cap. or a cracked hose in the fuel system vacuum system.

after is started in 3 or 4 seconds .. does it run normal??????

like I said more information is much needed.. its NOT in my driveway.

Change the plugs, see if that improves it a bit....

Try to track down the EVAP code and fix that too...

I would also try to turn the key to on, wait one second and then try to crank the engine....

Some older trucks don't like to be rushed through the fuel pump priming step before starting.

I would also clean your throttle body while you're at it.

dodges need new spark plugs every 30,000 miles .. check or replace.

and give the truck 2 seconds before starting engine.. help fuel pump build up pressure..

Like Izero said... should make a big improvement.

Was wondering about the V6 plugs and if they are the same as the coppers in the 5.7, etc? Or if they were diff like platinum..

Use copper core plugs.... your owners manual will tell you what type you need to get.

If you don't have a manual to look at you can look on one of the plug MFG's websites.... they usually have a fit guide on there.

95k so far on originals, mostly freeway, so I wonder if I'll see improvement. I was planning to change them soon as I felt the V6 'shake' at idle was getting a bit more pronounced. It even felt a few times with the AC on like it might die..other than that , mileage has been consistent, averaging around 18.5 with 21 to Vegas and back..

95k......? If the ones in there are copper core plugs I'll be extremely surprised... like you might wanna call the MFG of them and see if they want them back... hahaha

But my guess is they might be Iridium Plugs if they've lasted that long...

Heh heh, bought that truck new off the dealer's lot in '06. Less than 10 miles on it if I recollect correct. So unless the dealer put diff plugs in a new truck, these are the factory orig's!
