Default Time for tune-up. Spark plugs?

02 1500 QC - 4.7

What type of plugs would you all recommend? I installed Bosch Platinums in my 95 Ram when I had it and it seemed to match great. Just looking for recommendations.

Anything but the multitipped Bosch +4 plugs. I am going with the recommended Champs for the Hemi when I get to 30K, but for you I like NGK plugs. I use them in everything else including ATV, PWC, boats, lawn mower...

I just did mine over the weekend and used the stock Champs. I figured it ran pretty well new with them, so stayed with them. Do a search on here....there's been a ton of threads on this. Doc probably summarized most of them, though. Everybody seems to think multi-tips are a waste. Platinums will last longer than copper core normally. Runs great with the new Champs, seems to have smoothed it back out. The old plugs definately had their gap eroded, but otherwise were clean. Check your manual. Recently there was a thread that was saying that in their manual (an 03 as I remember) specified copper only--can't verify that though.

The 4.7 ought to be easier than the Hemi. If somebody is changing their Hemi, plan ahead. Saturday morning, NOBODY around me had 16 of the right plugs (makes you wonder--it's a Hemi application and they only stock 8). One genius suggested putting in 8 Champs and 8 Bosch platinums. Might work, but I'm not gonna be the one to try it. Actually had to go to the dealer to get them--at $3.59 vs. $1.29 at NAPA if they'd had them (NAPA would have gotten them in Monday, but you know how it goes when you want to do it Saturday).

Good luck.

Thx for the info. I ran a check and did find alot of good opinions. Like I said, I used Bosch platinums (single tips) in my 95 1500 Sport (5.2L) and they fired great. Access to the plugs was simple on the 5.2L. Shouldn't be any different with the 4.7L. I'm still throwing a few plugs around for this weekend. Haven't made my mind up yet.
