Default Front hitch mount for a 1500

I was wondering if there is a bolt on front hitch mount for a 2005 1500. I have a winch with the hitch mount. I originally thought I would use it in the rear hitch but I don't like to idea of running the battery cable to the rear. I'm now thinking a front hitch would also be useful in other ways.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. What about Curt 31320? Seems to be bolt on for 1500.

Looks pretty nice actually.

And they make some bitchin accessories!

I'm curious how the front winch mount looks on the truck....

AAGHemi, I looked at a lot of different options when I thinking about a front hitch. I finally decided to just fab one up myself. There were a couple of reasons I did a custom setup.

1- I wanted the hitch to be higher. Sucks digging in the mud looking for the receiver. Fills with mud fast also.

2- by having two receivers I can install a winch and still have room for a shackle in case I need to run a 2:1 block and tackle.

3- by having the offset hitch design, I can back up a trailer using the passenger side hitch, this gives me better views of what is going on as I can see around the trailer.

4- most extreme recovery operations call for a V chain to split the load between two recovery points

Brandon, I saw the work you did on your custom hitch. Very, very nice. I would love to do my own but I'm not good at welding. I have small mig welder and need a lot more practice to make good structural welds.

Your set up is more versatile than a single hitch. Maybe after I practice more I will and another receiver to it.

Welding is one of those skills that you need to just practice. You should be able to get a local weld shop to slap it together for you. Couldn't be more than a half hour of work.

AAGHemi, most smaller mig welders won't weld more than 1/8"-3/16" properly. So the pre-made hitch or going to a shop to have one made would be a good idea. If you decide to start practicing welding go over to WeldingWeb.com. Lots of info and lots of guys willing to help others learn.

Brandon, looks like you did a good job on the hitch. A few of the welds look like you could have set the machine a bit hotter though. Also, if there's room behind the plate a bar across the back making a "T" joint would help keep it from bending with a load. Some tube for the main section would have been nice.
