Default ETC Problem already!

Ive browsed through the list of problems some people have complained of having. Never getting too indept into reading them because, well this is a brand new truck, why would mine have a problem? ha-ha. Turns out on the way home today a light starts flashing on the dash. I get it on home because im just a few minutes from there, and there's no signs of problems like smoke or stuttering. I look up the light when i get home. Something with the Electronic Throttle Control. ETC. For those of you who dont know. its the Control modual that works in place of a throttle cable since the new dodge's dont have a cable. The book says to immediatly take it to the shop. I dropped it off this after noon and well find out tomorrow and i will up-date you on the status. The trucks a 04 qc hemi. with 11k miles. Thank god its under warrently. Is this anything new to everyone? Or am I just a late bloomer? Thanks for your time guys!

It happens. When goods are mass produces in the millions, one could never afford the quality control necessary to make every item--even an expensive one like our trucks--with thousands of parts 100% perfect for a specified time. That's why a significant chunk of the change we drop on such products goes toward the warranty. I've read the proportion of the typical vehicle's cost that covers the warranty. I cannot recall exact proportions, but it is significant. However, we all seem to want it.

Your issue should require a simple parts swap.

Good luck.

There is an ETC tsb out there. I had them update my pcm quite a while back. Mine's an '03. Not sure if anything is out there for the '04 or '05.

I got my truck back today. Instead of replacing anything. They said that the computer was aware of the problem and was in the process of automatically fixing it. And to just speed up the process they re-programmed my computer.

I had the same problem with my 2004 5.7L Hemi and had the update done to the computer and my truck is still having a idle problem in dont stall anymore but idle will drop to around 300rpm when driving. Let me know if your problem is 100% fixed
