Default 03 5.7 Issues

Looking at a regular cab 2003 1500 with 141k miles and a 5.7. Runs great. Ran car fax and don't see anything in service records about valve spring replacement. Is it enough of a problem for me to worry about? I know this year of Hemi generated that issue for a few trucks out there.

I'm coming up onto 140k with my 03' and haven't replaced any springs. I feel like you hear about bad springs on forums simply because this is where people post problems. I've heard of guy with an 03' that hit 300,000 on factory springs.

See.....I'm in that boat as well. I have 140K exactly on my 03 Hemi and have had the valve spring compression tool, springs, air fitting and compressor etc for 3 years now, to complete the on the head replacement of the stock springs.
However, I have lots of injectors and LPG stuff all crammed around the intake manifold, making it extremely difficult for me to get at all these springs etc.
To be honest, because of this and that even on a stock motor its fiddly, seriously puts me off doing it.
I know a dropped valve WILL make me reconsider that decision. But hopefully that won't happen........fingers crossed I haven't just jinxed myself lol.
Al.

I think we would all be amazed on how many 03' trucks that haven't had any spring problems. Just think of the hundreds of thousand trucks out there, then think of the 10 or so people that actually had a spring break on this forum. Not to mention, guys on here replaced the springs even though their stock ones were fine.

I think I'm going to hold off on mine. Hoping I didn't jinx myself either haha.

Btw, look up gm forums and see how many broken springs are in the new ls3 engine or whatever one is in the new camaro. Way more posts about those engines than our 03 hemis

Ditto, just passed 140,000 miles on mine, nothing yet. Now that I have a driver, the springs will get replaced to go with cam replacement.
