Default New Member, info about myself and truck….Trans Problems??

Hello….My name is AJ, I am new to this forum thing but figured I'd give it a shot since I'm a little stumped. I am a mechanic by profession, working mainly on high end cars, mostly Porsche/Porsche race cars, and am a leading mechanic and Jackman on a professional IMSA/Tudor (formerly GrandAm) race team. All that being said I am fairly knowledgeable about vehicles.

I however own a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi with an auto trans. The truck currently has 114k miles on it but is very well maintained and cleaned. The truck is lifted and currently sits 15 inches over stock (thats including height after tires). I run 37X12.50X17 Cooper Discoverer STT tires. 6 Way adjustable shocks, fully custom true dual exhaust with Flowmaster Super 10 mufflers, BullyDog Gas GT Tuner, Cold air intake and many more cosmetic "enhancements."

Now here is the newest and most current problem….While driving, the truck has rpm surges while idling at light and sometimes even jumps as it surges so much. This however is not my main concern and don't know if is related to-Also while driving and after making right hand turns (so loading up on the left rear tire) and hitting the gas, the rpm will go up as response to throttle however the truck will not gain speed as a result of the trans not sending power to the rear. Then the trans will slam into gear and finally start spinning the tires. I have had the problem happen also while really hammering the throttle from a stop at a red light but only a few times. If I ease onto the throttle after a right turn this problem does not happen. I have been thinking that possibly the fluid level is low and when i make the turn the fluid sloshes to the left side of the pan and not being picked up, however the dipstick reads full. I have also been thinking maybe the rear has lost some teeth on the gears but is not my main concern. i have also researched and found that maybe the trans is out of time with the throttle causing the trans to lag and not shift at the proper time. Again these are some thoughts of mine and the mechanics I work with and may not be accurate so please don't criticize too badly. If anyone has any suggestions or can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Have you tried a trans fluid and both filters? Maybe a throttle body cleaning.

Have not tried a fluid flush or filters yet, i would like to see if i can get some more info on it before I start throwing money at it. But is on my list of things to try when it finally comes down to that. And throttle body has been thoroughly cleaned recently. I did however replace the crank position sensor recently. Not sure if thats associated with this problem or not.
