Default SRT-10 Hood Question

Hi all. The paint on my Hemi Sport's hood is kind of peeling around the scoop, so I may just spring for the SRT-10 hood from RamAirHoods.com. (SRT-10 Hood)

I just had a question first. I know the scoop is functional, but I leave my truck outside year-round and really don't want rain/snow/sleet/leaves etc. That's what the grill insert is for, but couldn't rain and snow still get in there. I am using it only for looks, not really looking for any performance gain.

So if I get it, should I be worried about junk getting into the engine compartment, or would I be ok?

Thanks a lot,

Chris

I like the looks of the SRT-10 hood. I would fab a block off plate for the winter months out of aluminium for it..Of course you could step up to the Air Grabber Hood and just throw the switch !

Did you price one from the dealership, because the actual SRT-10 hood isn't a functional ram air hood. My daytona has the exact same hood and my scoop has a mock grill in it that is closed.

but the majority of those hoods that have that scoop like on the daytonas are just a scoop that has double sided tape on them and they serve no purpose other then looks.

Yea...thats whats on my Hemi Sport now. Don't get me wrong, i love the look of it, its just that the paint is peeling off of it so I was thinking just to upgrade.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will look a little further into it before I decide what I will do.

double sided tape???? nothing it taped on. It is the same hood from the srt-10 with a solid piece in the scoop instead of being open. You can get the piece from the dealership so it will be open like the SRT-10 but it still really doesn't do anything but let air in to your engine compartment along with dirt and water.

Paint peeling on an '04 truck? I'd be making tracks back to the dealer to start writing up a warranty-repair ticket. (That is assuming you bought the truck new)
