Default slow to go in gear

when i start my truck nemore and put it in rev. to back out and go to work it takes a couple seconds to get it moving and then when i put it in drive it does the same just a little quicker. whats going on the trans fluid is good and there is only 38,800 miles on this truck. this is the only ram i have drove or do they all do that. if i start the truck and sit there a little bit before leaving it goes just fine.

Yeah,, I bitched about that at the dealer,,and They said that was new trans/control,,,takes about 5-7 sec before you put it in gear.. PS,,,I f you don't heed the 5-7 sec,,you will end up getting p0700 codes(trans control module failure), and the trans will go into limp mode (stuck in second).....then the dealer with tell you your full of ****,,and you r truck was never in limp mode,,,and th e 0700 code was just a anomoly,,,nothing to worry about,,,,,

Yep been there,,stupid dealer!!! At any rate,,,jsut get used to waiting 5 seconds after you start the truck before you move.

What I do now , is hit my autostart while walking to truck,,then I'm alwasy ready to go

From what I was told, the tranny fluid can drain out of the converter while it sits overnight, if you just start it up and immediately place it into reverse it will take a brief second, but if you start it up, make yourself comfortable and put your seatbelt on you should be good to go. How this affects the tranny shifting, I have no idea. This is *what I was told* by the mechanic. Just FYI

Yup, Doc's right. In fact there was someone, I think, that was a Dodge Mechanic and he stated the entire picture here about a month or so ago. Maybe its what Doc is talking about. But just start it, get situated, and drop it in gear---good to go.

Hi,
I just got my o5 back from the dealer and one of our complaints was that when shifted into drive it acted like it was in neutral sometimes. He said there was a TSB for the problem and they changed the filter and sluid (I would guess just the fluid lost during filter removal). You might want to check with your dealer. I will try and get the TSB from my dealer and post it.
