Default Interior lights flashing when running

I have a 2006 ram 1500. I just recently noticed my interior lights are flashing with the engine running. I bought a brand new yellow top optima about 2 weeks ago. I am not noticing any starting issues but have noticed on my trinity that the voltage is jumping randomly anywhere from 12.3 to 15.4. Reving up the engine causes the flashing to get slightly worse. I'm thinking it may be the alternator or the voltage regulator inside going out? Does that sound like its whats causing it?

Thanks

have the Alternator load tested... That will tell you if you have a bad winding somewhere causing a voltage drop.

The Voltage Regulator could also be the problem, but is harder to confirm without just simply replacing the alternator.

I would try out a regular wet cell battery to just eliminate the possibility of the problem being the battery... if the problem goes away then maybe you can try swapping the yellow top you have for a new one under warranty...?

Just a thought. Keep us posted on how you make out.

I ended up needing a new battery cable. It had been corroding and i guess when i swapped the battery it started breaking the copper strands. I replaced the cable and everything is working great now. I was even having a problem with my A/C light flashing on & off that eliminated that also.
