Default RE: MPG with the new SUPERCHIPS?

I just picked up a used 03 RAM with the 5.7 hemi and I was SHOCKED by the stock gas milage! I am seeing around 13.5 all around average if you go by the do hicky on the roof... anyways, I am kicking rournd this I dea of a chip from SuperChip, HyperTech, Jet performance. are these actual chips or program devices you leave in the glvoe box and reprogram when you need to?

I am REALLY looking for gas improvement. My wife is just kicking my @$$ over it... If I set it on milage can you notice power loss? I have the QC laramie with dual exhaust and no mufflers just pipes whats the best setup for max gas savings??

itaintachev- Keep your highway speeds under 60MPH whenever possible. Keep your stock tire height - get a low rolling resistance tire (that is still safe in the rain).

Drive like there's an egg under the accelerator - but first you need to get some decent exhaust.

You will have no low-end torque with your current setup. I would suggest an Aero-turbine AT3030 with the matching resonator.

Mobil 1 5W30 or even 5W20.

The 03's do nothing with a SuperChip tuner. Run a good mid-grade fuel - 89 octane. It will de-tune with 87 (retard the engine timing).

Buy a 4-cylinder car to scoot around town...

How does the 87 octane setting compare with the stock setting for an 05 1500 Hemi with flowmaster 40? For acceleration purposes and gas mileage?

I have a 05,1500,QC,Hemi,4x4 and the only modification I've done so far is a Mopar CAI. I run 38 PSI in the tires and the truck has 6000 miles on it. My combo MPG is 13.8. I'm happy with the truck but like somone else who posted here, I bought a ecno car to drive daily. I hope this thread goes on because I am also considerng some type of computer mod. I am also running 5-20 Mobile 1 extended life synthetic.
