Default Aftermarket lugnut help

I put Moto Metal rims on last fall and haven't needed to take them off until my shock replacement.Well one of the locking lugs was a real bear to remove, but it finally came off.It ruined the threads on that stud,so I went looking for a new(and hopefully nicer) set.It appears that the lugs I have are difficult to find and probably not very safe either. The guy at the parts store said they are "thin walled". 9/16 18 with a 3/4 hex. Most of the hex you can find for these are 7/8,but I can barely get my socket in there now... so 7/8 is too big. Can anyone help/educate me to find a replacement set?The parts guy mentioned "tuners",but I am not up to speed on this stuff.I have already swapped out my hub assembly(it needed it anyway). I am more interested in fuction than appearance right now. Thanks

tuner style are usually splined. I had those on my 1500. They make them in black as well. 9/16 is the size.

Can't beat mcgard... lifetime warranty, very tough and don't rust. Available just about everywhere... try Summit Racing or JEGS online.

Thanks for the responses guys.
Will the splined type be stronger than a standard "thin walled" lug nut? I really like these wheels, but I don't want to sacrifice safety.

both are fine, I've used thin walled on a 7 second drag car with no issues (granted my studs were longer) your studs are the weakest link, and will break long before a nut would

Thanks for the input archemedes74.....I feel better knowing these are capable.I had to use the thin walled ones from before(no one carried new in the size I needed),and they seem to have gone on fine.I tested them first on the old hub assembly studs without any crossthreading.
