Default Swapping engines

I have a 2003 Ram PU 1500 5.7 engine out of a wrecked 2W/D SLT with a 9.25 Corp 3.55 rear and 17" Wheels. I have a chance to get an 2006 Ram 1500 2wd with a Pristine SLT body with a blown 4.7 engine with 9.25 Corp 3.92 rear and 20" wheels. Am I going to run into any issues pairing the 5.7 motor with the 20" wheels or higher ratio rear ? I am assuming the harnesses are the same since they are the same trim package. I don't foresee any performance issues mating these trucks. The 2003 5.7 motor has 84000 on the motor and is clean. Just wondering if everything should match up well. My total investment would be around $3500. The 3.55 rear is toast from the accident so no saving it.

The 03 5.7 engine into the 06 will not be plug and play, just because the trimline is the same, the engine/trans harnesses are not, it would require conversion. If you can find a donor 06 hemi harness and modules then you could put the hemi in, but you would have to change some things (add EGR, MDS lifters). Transmissions are the same however, so it would bolt to the 06 trans. If you decided to do a conversion, further complicating things will be the fact that the 06 is a CAN bus vehicle; these tend to be alot more sensitive to harness issues/hacks. Do a search for 'hemi conversion'.

Default Engine Swap

Hey I appreciate the info. You have given me fuel for thought. I have titles for both. The 03 needs a bed, 2 right doors, complete rear, 4 tires and rims, and some minor body work behind the RH cab. The colors match up so for technical ease I may just swap body parts. One plus with the 03 it has a leather interior that is in great shape. The 06 has 210,000 miles the 03 84000. Think I will end up with an 03 with 20" Rims and a 3.92 rear.

that sounds like a better idea, it may be a little more grunt work, but you will probably have way less electrical headaches.
