Default crankshaft position sensor constantly going out.

I have had my 2005 dodge ram Daytona for about a year and a half now and it seams about every six months or so I have to replace the crankshaft position sensor which is easy enough to do and not very expensive (about 26 bucks) but I don't want to spend a penny on it if I don't have to. Is there an underlying issue that I am overlooking? I have the hemi 5.7 engine

That's not really normal... and there are a large number of issues that could cause that problem. Are you buying OEM sensors or something else?

If it's OEM sensors the parts should be warrantied, but you might need to have a dealer look into it to get that warranty honored...

It you're using aftermarket or cheapo brand sensors then it's likely just a crappy sensor that dies frequently....

Then there are electrical gremlins that might be nearly impossible for you to track down that could be burning those sensors out... until we determine how the sensors are burning out we can't really even begin to tackle the problem methodically so you're going to have to start narrowing it down system by system.

Default mopar

I took it to a mechanic and they said quite simply to put the original mopar sensor on instead of the autozone advanced auto parts generics. I did it and so far so good but I will have to give it a few months.

Stop using aftermarkets. You're lucky to get 60 days out of them, if they're not crap right out of the box.

Will do. It cost me twice as much but if it works it's worth it.
