Default 05 to 08 engine swap

i blew the engine in my 05 ram. i found an 08 hemi for cheap. can i drop it in without too much headache?

5.7 hemi... i'm mostly curious about reluctor ring and mds changeover

Non-MDS to MDS, you'll need that engine to come with the truck it was in. Many differences, PCM, engine wire harness, etc. If I'm not mistaken, the '05 had separate PCM/TCM which were integrated in '06 Also, the '08 is TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) while the '05 is not. Used to be there was a hardware kit to make an MDS Hemi into a non-MDS Hemi, but I've not seen it advertised since tuners started letting you turn off/on MDS. Won't solve all the dissimilarity issues but would be a good start...
