can i simply buy an srt hood and bolt it in place of my stock one ? i have heard that the airbox is different in the srt. will i need to run the srt air box as well ? can anyone recommend a good place to buy an aftermarket version from? , preferably in canada (to avoid shipping costs) .

You can run your existing airbox, but it will not be functional.

Some aftermarket places have airboxes, but once again, while better than the stock box it is not a true ram air system. The air box would not seal against the hood, resulting in engine compartment air being used. A CAI will give you the same effect and will be easier to get in Canada.

I am buying this hood and accessories tonight. It will be a sealed system utilizing the stock airbox with a few add ons.

I agree it looks great. I'd love to go that route, but just have a tough time justifying the G for the out the door price.
