Default Instrument Cluster Problems

Hello, we just purchased a 2004 Ram 1500. We just discovered that the instrument cluster does not light up nor does the a/c and heater control light up at night. The cluster gauges and warning lights all work fine. a/c and heater control works fine. Just no illumination at night. I have checked possible fuses. has anyone ran into this same type problem. does it sound like the cluster itself ? thank for any advice.

Simple things first, verify that the dimmer switch is not turned down. If not that, pull out the headlight switch and inspect the plug behind it for burned or melted wires.

Have checked the dimmer switch and all ok. The plug in the back of the headlight switch looks good. thanks for the advise.
