Hell, my truck will go dead if I let it sit for 2 weeks but it's because my 2 way alarm is always using juice

What aftermarket gear is in the truck?

I can't remember the name of the component or which fuse but if you are left the truck sit for a while, you are supposed to pull a fuse to keep the battery from being pulled down. It's normal.

I believe it is the #51 fuse that you would pull. See, the funny thing is that it became a second vehicle in August of 2013, but I had no issues leaving it parked for weeks at a time until this past August. I made three short trips, and at the last one, the battery voltage was too low to crank the engine over. A jump got me going, and as the battery was stock, I figured I made out. But after getting a new battery, within a week of two the battery was discharged. After getting that one replaced two weeks ago, I checked it with a multimeter and that's when I discovered the amp draw from the 51 fuse.

Now, funny thing. Due to the winter storm forecast, I drove it to work today. I started it up with the fuse pulled, drove three miles to get fuel, and reset the fuse at the pump. I started the engine, and while the clock needed to be reset, my radio presets were still current. As pulling that fuse kills power to the radio, how in the heck did the presets stay?

I believe it is called IOD or Idle Off Draw?

Can't exactly remember. But what I do know is it is mentioned and covered in the Service Manual. If you don't have it already, take a moment to download it from my signature and find it in there.

Just because you have a new battery doesn't mean it's a good battery.

I am having trouble with my battery dying if I don't start in every day, brand new battery. I pulled fuse 51 and it stays charged longer at least 3 or 4 days ( haven't tried it longer), i need to know what to replace. Power mirrors don't work, radio volume won't go above 7, doors unlock but don't lock

It's a decade old thread... You might want to create a new one.
