Default 2004 48RE

I am looking to buy a 2004 Ram with the CTD and Auto. I have read that the 48RE was not available until mid-year 04, how can I make sure the truck has the 48RE?

look on the tag inside the door and see what the production date was and then if u know when they started using the 48RE then that would give you an idea, or grab the VIN and have them look it up on dealer connect under the VIP inquiry and that will tell you for sure, hope this helps

who ever told you that doesnt know what they are talking about.

the 48RE's were put behind the 305's since the older 47re was being burned up by them I'm wanting to say the 48RE's have been used since about 01 or 02.

if it is an 04 the one thing I would look for is if it is a 555 or 600 engine. look at the drivers side valve cover and on the right side of the sticker it will say what the advertized HP rateing is. 305hp is the 555ft-lb torque engine, 325hp is the 600ft-lb engine.
