Default Need advice on inverter install............

I want to install a 5K inverter on my Dodge Ram, but there are so many out there to choose from. Are there any that are BETTER than the rest? Also, are there any tips, suggestions, etc., that can make the install easier? Thanks.

5000 watts? Thats a huge inverter. Same answer I gave for your compressor question applies here. What do you intened to use it for? Inverters are sized for watts. Figure out what you want to plug into it and figure out how many watts your inverter needs to supply. No one can tell you which one to get without knowing what you intend to use it for. As for installation tips, the higher the wattage, the bigger the power wires you will need.

and what is going to power the inverter... 1 battery.?

a microwave.. is 1500 watts... plus/minus.
a circular saw.. is 1500 to 2000... watts.

I run my complete HOUSE on a 7000 watt gas generator....

You're going to have a hard time finding one that is 12 vdc input that supplies that much power. Perhaps some industrial model out there that will cost you several thousand dollars. Not to mention the massive load being put in your trucks electrical system. You'd be better off getting one if those small portable gas generators.

Try a full sine wave 2500 watt magnum. More than enough for what your talking about doing, plus, then the battery cables don't get prohibitively big. Generally, you don't need anything like 5K watts because you don't run everything all at once.
