Default 2nd fan in engine compartment

Stupid question time, I recently got stuck in the ditch with my ram 1500 2005 model, it was enough snow to a. raise my wheels off the ground and b. freeze up my radiator fan, I have done everything I can to get snow from under the hood and around the engine block, when I was looking under the hood I noticed a smaller fan next to the main fan wondering what it is for. Since I was in the ditch the check engine light is on, wondering if it has something to do with the second fan, hoping that I didnt burn up the motor on the second fan. Help please.

Second fan is likely the a/c fan, comes on with a/c or when extra cooling is needed. If the fan blows the fuse it will put the check engine light on, check your underhood fuse box, I forget which number fuse it is.

Did you clear the code after installing the fuse?

separate AC condensor I'd presume. That fan won't help cool the truck since that fan isn't behind the radiator. But, the smaller AC fans do go bad and it's possible it could be pulling too much load to run. I do have a cool mod on my radiator which is a 2 speed fan out of an HO Taurus (forget the year). I have it wired to run low speed until about 210 then kicks up to high. Only happened once when I was towing my travel trailer in the middle of summer in Florida.
