Default sound system ? might be posted in wrong section

What subs are some of you using in 3rd gen crew cab rams under the rear seat? I can get the box for 63.00 for 12's, and where is your amp mounted? Looking for ideas, maybe some could post a few pics of their setup . Will be doing whole system. Thank you

I had the 10" box, but most 12" boxes are the same size. I used Kicker 10C104 subs (equivalent
10C124 10C124
). "Bang" for the buck, they were great budget speakers, and fit the box depth with a bit of room to spare.

A mid-range step up would be the
Alpine SWR-12D2 Type-R Alpine SWR-12D2 Type-R
. I've heard them in a 3rd gen quad cab, and they sound much cleaner than the Kickers.

If your budget allows it, look at the
JL Audio 12W3v3-2 JL Audio 12W3v3-2
. This is what I'm putting in my Silverado. These subs will blow you away with how good they sound.

Keep your mount depth in mind when looking for subs, since the underside of the RAM's rear seat isn't particularly roomy. Some boxes have more room than others, and the cheaper ones tend to have less room for the deeper speakers. The Alpine Type-R for instance, is 6.375", which would have barely fit into the type of box I had installed.

I used an Audiopipe APSM-1300 to power the subs, but don't let the low price fool you, this amp is leaps and bounds ahead of its price point. If you can find an amp that will outperform this one for under $500, use it instead. The APSM 1300/1500/2000 are all perfectly sized to fit between the speaker box and the rear of the cab, with room to spare, so plenty of room to exhaust the heat. They are also thin enough to mount to cab wall if you wanted to. These amps are also 1 ohm stable, so you can wire two 2ohm speakers in parallel, making them quite efficient.
