Default 06 1500 Passenger CV Axle Issues

Hey Guys,

I'm changing the CV axle on the passenger side, it was a nightmare getting it off, when it finally popped off, the intermediate shaft came with it and bent the snap ring that holds the shaft into the axle housing. I was wondering if there were any tips to get the intermediate shaft out of the cv axle, and did I fubar something up bad, am I going to need to pull the axle housing apart to replace that snap ring?

Can't help with your issue unfortunately but, make sure you replace the axle seal when you replace that shaft.

Just an update to teach everyone from my stupidity. When I changed my shocks 2 years ago, I hit the CV boot with my torch. I was too lazy to do anything about it and just drove with it slinging grease. It wasn't until it started binding up while driving that I changed the axle. But 2 years of driving a greaseless CV axle made it hot enough to weld the C-clip to the spline, thus not allowing it to compress to slide the CV axle off of the intermediate stub shaft. So, if you have a bad CV boot, DON'T wait to fix it, it will be A LOT of headache and problems if you do. Trust me!

Default replace intermediate axle

mine done same thing, you need to put rag in hole, clean around 4 bold. remove 4 bold. remove bearing and race, and gear, buy new intermediate axle and seal; along with new cv axle. I wouldn't use same ones or repair

this was the intermediate shaft at rockauto.com that i got : TRAKMOTIVE CH3508 (Standard Replacement) Front Right; 4WD
this was the seal : MOPAR52114377AC
I think I got the cv axle for like 67.00 at carid.com but went thru ebay for the free shipping, if want link let me know, i'll check back here a few more day see if anyone can help me out
