Bear with me please.

Ok so it started out, what on earth is this Amsoil oil filter for on my mower (Kohler 25hp), Little research turns out its spin on bypass oil filter system to reduce the debris down to vertually nothing 1 micron

Little more googling research

Im a complete Newbie so excuse my ignorance. However i did experience open heart surgery on my 4.7 Magnum thru lack of maintenance and ignorance (learnt the hard way).

Thermostat failed
Over heat
Split radiator
Dropped #2 cylinder valve seal
Rocker arm wedged and smashed hydraulic lifer surround
Dropped seal gouged smiley face in top of piston

Took 2 weeks to perform it both me and my son with lots help off here and jeep forums and an awesome step by step site

Invaluable to say the least

My engine was mucky and thats an understatement

Anyway so im extremely paranoid now (i do love my truck).

My question is has anyone fitted this and if so do i need to figure the oil flow rates etc so the bypass filters are always sufficiently full to furnish the system?

Thanks

I'm not sure how well it would work in the Dodge 4.7L. I plan on using an Amsoil dual bypass system on my Duramax, but my oil pressure is pretty high even at idle. I would make sure you have the required pressure (at the oil filter) before thinking about this sort of thing. That being said ... Using good oil and filters and changing them within a reasonable time period will keep your engine safe for a really long time. The bypass kit just lengthens the change interval, but you're not going to recoup your money without driving a considerable number of miles (tens of thousands, if not more).
