03 instrument cluster gauge lights.
#1
03 instrument cluster gauge lights.
03 Hemi QC SLT 4x4 1500.
Water temp light popped/not lighting up.
Anyone send me a link to how to open up the instrument cluster panel and replace the stock instrument cluster bulbs etc please?
I've looked at some of the the LED conversion posts on the net. But I can't find out, how to open the dash up to get to this stuff.
Also bulb numbers please.
Many thanks guys.

No bud i didnt.
I can see the temp gauge fine as some light spills out from the other gauges.
I do know that there's been lots of guys out there, that have opened up the cluster to replace stock lights with LED's.
Just waiting for one of them to help........or try to pull it and replace the bulb myself.

If you want to do a full led conversion, the bulbs you need are B8.5Ds. You need 11 of them but I would order a couple spares. Get the from superbright LEDs as the ones on ebay don't actually fit (I learned the hard way and my led dash conversion on my second truck has been put aside until I do a superbright led order). As for getting at the bulbs, it's really straightforward once you remove the instrument cluster, which is the hardest part. If I remember correctly there are a couple of screws that hold the cluster together, take them off and the bulbs are right there. Since the led bulbs have a definite polarity it takes a couple goes at getting all of them to light up properly

it's pretty easy getting it apart. two crews on the panel under the column, the cover over the stereo pops off.. there are two screws holding the trim ring around the cluster in, they are on the top side of the trim. then there's two bolts holding in the cluster. The cluster is a PAIN!!!! to get out. Put the e-brake on and the truck in 1st. You'll have to wiggle and fight with the connectors. As for the bulbs, they just turn then pull them out. There's one under the keyless receiver (the black box in the centre). I swapped my lights out with led's.
Now!!!!! I cant stress this enough cause this kicked my *** numerous times.
Put the lights in, don't put it back together!! once it's all plugged in, turn the lights on. They are direction, if in the wrong position, they wont make the proper contact. If a bulb doesn't work, spin it 180 degrees then it should.
I also went to far as too take the whole cluster apart and paint the beige needle centres black. One thing bout that.... be very and I mean Very! careful that the needles get popped back into the same position. mine were all out of whack so I had to measure voltage, heat, wait for the gas light to come one and use a gps to calibrate my speed before i got all the needles back in the right spot. learn't a good lesson that day.
Hope that helps you some.
