2008 Ram 1500- bad temp sensor?
Hey guys. I have a 2008 ram 1500 and I noticed the last few weeks my temp gauge is all over the place. The temp today went almost all the way to hot. I got out opened up hood and felt around motor and hoses nothing was hot at all. I got back in and started up and gauge went back to normal within 10-15 sec. I am thinking it might be the temp gauge sensor? Nothing else is wrong heat works no problem. Anyone else out there have any similar issues? Thanks!

the reserve tank.. if the smallest AIR leak.. the radiator can NOT pull fluid from the reserve tank.. that is why do NOT trust the reserve tank..
and yes thermostats can stick.. off and on.. so If that.. replace thermostat.
and I have seen in Chrysler ... the thermostat post for the top of valve to break.. causing intermittent function.

dealer tells me I need to unbolt the compressor to get to the sensor. makes sense since I located it and no way to get a tool in there. I have to take the belt off and the belt tentioner looks different then ones I have worked on where you put a square socket in it to then get belt off. I didn't see anywhere to do that on mine. Anyone remove compressor looks like only 2 bolts. I may be able to take one bolt out loosen up the other ones and swing up. Just wanna get some tips before I attack it.
