Default Metal piece in Transmission Pan

Hi all,
So about a year and half ago my truck started acting up. Go down the road 55-60 mph and it feels like it is trying to downshift but with huge clunk when it does it. Doesnt happen all the time. I had one time when it did this and the engine died and I coasted to a stop. Restarted it and went down the road again with no problem. So alot of people were asking me when the transmission fluid/filter was last changed. Since I bought it in 2010 it hasnt been changed. I dont know if or when before that.
So I drain the transmission and found hardly any metal shavings in the pan or on the magnet but something else what looks to be a tuning fork was attached to the magnet. Pics attached. Since I dont do transmissions; WTH is this? Obviously this isnt good. I'm guessing I have been lucky so far that I havent been left on the side of the road. Any thoughts, ideas, comments are welcomed.

Looks like a link that would go between a servo and a band.

I would stop driving it. Where is the missing piece of metal? Driving could cause more damage.

Oh I'm definitely not driving it. I just wanted to do a filter and fluid change and found that piece. But I figured it out as it is the anchor to the 2nd band. And of course it is way up in there.
