Default limiting straps

I have a 2 inch leveling kit on my truck and I have had the cv axle slightly pull out of differential when truck is on a lift and the suspension droops down. Will limiting straps prevent this?

How old are the CVs? Yes limiting straps can stop this, but I'm on a 12" and this isn't even full droop but I've never had them pop off.

The axle I'm having a problem with is the drivers side where it goes into the differential and I had the axle replaced about a year ago so I know the joints are fine. I can move the axle in and out of the differential about 1/8 of an inch and there is grey oil/grease on the axle shaft. Only theory I have come up with is when truck is on a lift, the suspension is extending further than it would without the leveling kit which is pulling on the cv axle, but I'm not sure. Maybe that little of movement at the differential is fine, but I'm afraid to use four wheel drive.

The clip that should lock it onto the splines might be broken or it's not on all the way. I can't think of any other reason it would be doing it. You should be fine in 4x4 tho when driving normally

I'm gonna have it checked out sometime soon, 1/8 of an inch isn't much but I didn't think it should slide in and out at all.
