ummm... firstly it requires premium fuel to operate properly. Also OEMs overengineer and overbuild their products so they are more reliable oer a wide range. They include a margin of error. Performance mods generally eat into the magin of error and tip the balance between reliability and performance towards performance.

ok, that sounds like a reasonable answer so far, if anyone else has more input I would love to hear it. Also, if this chip is tipping the scale on performance instead of reliability, is this superchip really gonna beat the crap out of our trucks? as far as long term use goes?

Frogslinger is correct. Engineers develop with a wide range of possible people that will be driving these vehicles, so they develop them to suit a wide array of different styles. Mileage-reliabilty-Gas price are all factors they have to address when building a vehicle. Example - The general population wants an auto tranny to behave smooth and seemless when it shifts even though its harder on the tranny do to heat build-up. By "firming up the shifts" with a chip your actually reducing harmful heat buildup. A chip shouldnt affect your engine reliabilty unless you dont follow directions. Good gas will be your best friend agianst harmful ping and knock when running a high advance setting.
