Rear end wanders/skips/bounces...over bumps at speed
P, no disrespect meant in my reply, it sounded snooty when i read my post, my apologies if it seemed that way. What I should have stated was, during last weekend's camping trip with the kids there was the same harmonic "hop" with all the gear a crew of 4 needs for a 3-day trip in the pines of AZ. Albeit slightly less noticeable
Bent drive shaft caused my wheel hop at highway speeds. I had it balanced at shop #1. The truck drove with no improvement. After ******* around with it for months thinking the drive shaft was ruled out. I decided as a last ditch effort to remove the drive shaft again and brought over to shop #2. He put it on his balancer /lathe and said look here shaft is bent. Plus one of the shafts(2piece) was not balanced correctly. Guy fixed me up.
My problem solved.
My problem solved.
Again Gents, much thanks for the suggestions, advice and sharing of knowledge and experiences. Collectively you are all the reason I check in to the forum once in a while. If not to "lend a hand" where I feel I may be contributing, at least to maybe gain some knowledge.
Slim:I also have the same year truck you do and mine does the exact same thing you have just described. Except mine is not 4x4.It really bugs me because I have to deal every day with speed bumps in the parking garage...... so I feel your pain as well.Im no mechanic but I think it has to do with the fact that the real end is limited slip and acts almost like a posi traction vehicle which provides traction on both tires a so it acts as a solid axle? Dont know if I explained it correctly...??Actually my vehicle also makes a rubbing sound when marking relatively sharp turns. I also relate it to the limited slip? maybe? One wheel turning faster than the other? I know for a fact that the tires arent rubbing!Does your truck also do this?Hope this sheds some light because I am not totally convinced it's that but would like to resolve the issue as well. Thanks

I'm having the same problem now embarrassingly cuz I backed into a tree on my driver side, and to fix it because it's starting to annoy me I got under the truck was looking around found it the bumper bolts were loose I took the bumper off fixed the dent in the bumper caused by the tree but before putting the bumper and bumper brackets back on my impatience got the best of me I had to go to dairy Queen well in doing so I found out without the bumper supports reinforcements and bumper itself the truck drives like a wet spaghetti noodle and with the rear bumper off I was able to clearly see my rear end was out of a line both shocks leaning to the left.. so I would try jacking it up pull the bumper get the spring bolts loosened up a little straight measure center on your wheels for a few different measurements make sure everything's squared up Titan spring bolts back down make any adjustments needed to your bumper reinforcements and mounting brackets Mount your bumper back on straight he should be good to go and this does happen a lot on the trucks when they're delivered new to factory cuz they're cranked down unevenly and way too tight on the tires when strapped on a trailer
