Default what do you have to do to swap 2012 5.7 in a 04' dodge ram 1500

I have a 04 dodge ram 1500 with a 5.7 hemi in it, the motor is blown up. I found a 2012 5.7 hemi that i am looking to buy, but want to make sure i can do the swap and what i have to do to swap the motors?

Lot of work, you're talking an MDS Hemi ('12) vs. A NON-MDS ('04). Can be done but you're looking at a ton of work and customization.

Thanks for your reply i did some other reading and someone said the mds is a seperat plug and if left unpluged the motor will run just like it never had mds and only other motor difference was the head/ header ports D shaped and not rectangle. Thanks

Not quite that simple, that's an MDS VVT engine, the block is actually different, as are the heads and intake manifold. Better off finding an 03-05 1500 or 03-08 2500/3500 engine. That will be a drop in.
