Default Got Sludge?

Oh man I have a sludge problem. I don't get it, 106k on an 03 hemi that's pushing blue smoke on acceleration from a stop. So I decided to start with the valve stem seals and when I pulled off the cover everything is caked in crispy sludge. WTF? I've done the maintenance myself and use Mobil 1 full synthetic at 5k. Should I be using a different oil?

I did, but due to life circumstances it was operated by my brother for a year and in that time he put about 20k on it. It's possible he never changed the oil, says he did, but that was several years and many miles ago. Wouldn't this have broken down by now if it was from that period?

Some of it did. Be careful adding something like sea foam, to break it done further. It may clog the oil pump pick up. Clean out what you can see. Maybe do some short change intervals with a little sea foam or mystery oil. I would use Dino oil, if you do that cheaper. Then go back to synthetic.
