Default Door locks

Got 07 1500 4x4 QC big horn with 4.7.
Just recently when my locks go to lock, my driver side makes a nasty noise only when it locks. It still locks, but just makes loud noise. Is it a motor or an actuator in there.

One of the guys at work has an '06 Dakota. His does the same thing. Obnoxious noise from the driver's door. It sounds like a motor, but all it should be is a solenoid. He was quoted >$200 to fix it. You might pull the door panel to see exactly what's making the noise.

Your problem is the door lock solenoid is buzzing. Get a used one on ebay and replace. Same happened to me. I replaced with a used one and all is fine. Remove door panel and then you have to remove some wiring and door rods that have some funky plastic clips. Be careful removing the clips they can break easy. There is a door lock and inside handle rod and also a door button rod so im sure there is 3 rods to be removed..
Tight quarters with the window, I think the window will have to be up to get the electric door module out.
Google replacing the door lock and see if there is a youtube video on this to help you.
I have replaced many of these on cars/trucks that I have owned over the years and all are basic and a easy to do.
All you need is a screw driver and maybe a torx set to remove the screws holding the door lock in place.
The door lock and electric actuator/solenoid are all one piece.
If you have a local salvage yard try them first then ebay.

good luck
