I only have 136,xxx miles on it, i have owned it for just over a month and haven't even put enough miles on it to change the oil yet. The other day I started it and got an awful clanking sound. I immediately shut it off and pulled it into the barn. I started looking and dropped the oil pan. The first thing I noticed was that nice chocolate milk looking oil (head gasket). I've seen worse, but its still there. Then I found what looks like pieces of a rod in the oil pan as well and one is about 2 inches long. So now, new engine. It's not something i'm going to do myself, so it looks like about $6k for the install. I'm hoping the car lot will help me out, they are at least going to look at it for free. I know they don't have it "As Is" so we'll see what happens!

 

A '98 with a 4.7? The truck isn't worth $6K.

Either way, it isn't worth six grand. You could probably find an '04 or '05 Hemi for under $8K.

 

wish i was shopping for trucks with you then if you can find a 4 door 4x4 with a hemi and relatively low miles for under 8!

 

Private party sale value in my area is $8,298.
