Default 2004 4.7 Engine died

Got a 2004 Ram 1500 with 84,000 miles. I was coming home yesterday and turn te corner on my street and the engine just died like you shut the switch off. The lights were still on and everything looked normal but almost ran up into a front yard before i got it stopped. Put it in neutral and turned the key and it started right up. I had filled up with gas from 1/4 tank just hours before. Never had any problem with the truck except the stupid blend door problem in the heater/ac unit which I fixed. I did get a couple of codes but I cleared them with an obd unit and changed the gas cap. I haven't had any codes after that and there were no code or check engine light at all when it died. ANYBODY got any ideas I'm an ex jet engine mechanic and use to drag race so I am no dummy. Just kind of lost on this one.

Check all the grounds. How's the battery? Check and clean the battery connections too. Poke around under the hood and check for loose connectors, etc.

Yes have plans on doing just that as soon as it warms up enough and isn't raining or snowing. May strip the key chain of all keys (only 4) so it has just the ignition key and the fob.

Doing a little on your own then reporting what you have done helps narrow down the responses.

Removed the extra keys off the key ring and started it up standing outside first try. Battery showed good charge past mid way mark. Popped the hood and it is so cold the struts won't hold so propped it and use the multi meter on it. Idle it is 12.56 V, accelerate it is 14.7 + it did kind of stumble a little when I let off the throttle shaft once like it wanted to die but it was not warmed up good yet. I double checked the gas cap to make sure it was tight because I had replaced it months ago. My service manual says that the fuel pump is usually good for from 7 to 10 years so I am riding on luck at 84K miles. I plan on cleaning the battery terminals as I replaced the battery a few years back and they stay really clean as it is warming up tomorrow I am 72 and can't take the cold like you young guys. I will post more as I find it.

I came across information saying that after market gas caps aren't advised so I gave the aftermarket one to a friend and had my son that is a service manger for a dealer order me a MOPAR OEM cap. No more dyeing on the corners.
