Default Wheel bearing issue maybe??

Hi guys , i hope i`m in the right place for this thread !

I have an 04 1500 quad cab , it`s done 136000 , Ive done all the work i need to do myself , mostly replacing brakes , bearings on the front , ball joints and u joints. Oil and filter change every 3 - 4000 miles. Its a 2 wheel drive version and has developed a funny whirring / rubbing sound which really comes into play around 35 mph. Could be a bearing or something in the rear i thought.
I jacked up the back , put in axle stands , chocks at the front and put it gear to see what i could hear. However the passenger side rear wheel did not want to move until speedo was around 50 or so. This wheel was very stiff to move which is why i am thinking its the bearing. Or am i missing something , Is it something to do with a slip diff? The drivers wheel moves quite freely.
I guess this is a process of elimination but i wondered if anyone else had been through this.
Many thanks for any advice..

Does the noise change if you turn? How long ago did you do the front bearings? Good quality part?

Hi , thanks for reply , I did the passenger front a few years back , the drivers front is good , no the noise is not there when you turn , Its hard to tell if its front or back , you can only hear it from inside at that speed of 35 ,
I dont know , i think i`ll have to take it apart and see whats what.
I`ve not really done anything on the rear of the truck.
Parts are from a good quality place here in the UK .
When that front bearing went it made a hell of a noise and was easy to identify

Thanks again.

I would replace the drivers side. It is possible for bearings to be bad, and not show any sign.

Make sure you go with ONLY a Timken bearing, the standard Duralast wheel bearings at Auto Zone & standard O'Reilly wheel bearings are a flat bearing style and not tapered like the Timken is, the Timken can withstand side loading during turns as well as normal loading. The standard $120 bearings at Auto Zone you'll be replacing in a year no matter how much you drive your truck, do yourself a favor and get the Timken one for $104! cheaper and beefier!.

My truck had the same symptoms and it turned out to be the driver side front wheel bearing. I changed both front bearings for good measure and I like the Timken bearings as well. If you have access to the internet there plenty of good sources for those parts. I like rockauto. Have fun!!!

Very kind of you guys to reply , yes the front bearings was the next port of call , i have never done the drivers side before . I`ve just serviced the rear brakes which have not been touched since it left the production line. I am in England but will try and source those Timken bearings. We have good suppliers in the UK now so should not be a problem.
Cheers.
