Hey guys. Ever since I bought my 04 Ram 5.7 3 years ago, if I don't drive it for 2 or 3 days the battery drains out. The battery is only 3 years old and I cant find whats draining it. I can jump start it just fine and drive to the store or whatever and it'll fire right back up no problem.

I don't daily my Ram as much any more so its getting annoying having to either start it or having to jump it every few days.

Could it be a bad ground or something?

 

You GOT it. Headlight brown wires are notorious for it; so are aftermarket stereos/cb/ham gear. Beyond that, any other aftermarket wiring projects - trailer lights and brakes, fog lamps/offroad lights, winch, et.al. should be rechecked.

After all THAT... might be time for the dealership to guess at it!

It does have an aftermarket Alpine stereo that I put in but it did that before the install. I'm assuming the brown wire on the headlights are the ground? Popping my hood I felt like a moron and the ground cable going from the negative terminal to the fender wall is broken. Going to order a replacement (or make one) and see if that'll hopefully fix the problem.
