Superchip 3842
I have a 2004 Rumble Bee 5.7 Hemi and after reading all the reviews on the superchip I expected more but then again I haven't changed any option settings. Right now it seems as though the transmission wines out 1-2 a little longer with an extended smooth shift with no kick to it. I'm not familiar with what the settings should be for the Rev Limiter, speed Limiter, gear ratio, etc. Will adjusting these give it that extra kick?
Any advice on a good overall performance setting on these?
And do I need to convert back to stock to change to new settings?

My Ramble Bee short bed regular cab truck has always been fast, but the superchips tuner made it into an ANIMAL, there was no questioning if paying the $150 I did for it used was worth it, I honestly would have paid the $400 new for it. I knew right away that I wanted first gear to hang around for a bit longer to cure what seemed to me a early 2nd gear shift by the way 2nd gear kinda jacked off. Other than adjusting my speedometer to match my GPS & tires I have not touched the tuner in a year and a half, I've been that happy with the first performance settings I chose from day one. I haven't had it at the track, but judging by the vehicles I've torched, I'm easily a mid 14 second truck, used to run 15.3 bone stock with my G-tech (before the cord broke on me) and now it launches from any speed, never once thought "this isn't what I thought it'd be"...well I lied, it wasn't what I thought it'd be, it was MORE.
I have my rev limiter set to 6150Rpm which some may think is a bit high, but with the shift points its gets rid of the lag that 2nd gear had stock and screams into 2nd gear around 55-58mph under wide open throttle, in July it'll be 2 years since I installed the tune, so my memory of how the options work is fuzzy at best.
Under part throttle, the shift points are:
1-2nd gear shifts:20mph
2nd-3rd:28mph
3rd-4th:39mph for 4th gear overdrive
45mph:5th gear overdrive.
The 2nd-3rd gear shift can be annoying in a 25mph zone, but you get used to it. First gear being held to 20mph is amazing, for when you turn a corner but don't want to burnout and then once you make the corner & tromp on the truck it lifts like you're going into space!. It doesn't shift in the middle of a corner from a standard stop sign right or left hand turn, which is nice, you have the power to get going once you make the corner if you choose so without having to floor the truck to get the kickdown in your favor.
Wide open throttle:
1st-2nd gear 55-58mph
2nd-3rd gear:103mph
To be honest, I've never maxed my truck out, I ASSUME I've been around 130mph with it when I raced a diesel Super Duty (I won), never used a GPS to confirm the two times I was past 120mph. Its scary as hell in a 5300lb vehicle going that fast.
Speed limiter I have set at the max of 140 mph.
The shift points are slightly below the rev limiter of 6150.
Now as for the tune, I just used the preset 91 octane tune and I use BP 93 octane gas
After the tuner, John Force style burnouts were much easier.

If you're talking about the kick down lag, you're always going to have a bit of that, I've grown used to that lag but I guess its just the way the transmission operates. Its like the sling shot effect, I always think of it as the pullback before the release lol. If you want to eliminate that lag then manually shift the truck.
With the superchips tuner, the truck will be very quick that you will forget about the slight shift lag, because it doesn't matter, you'll waste most people you try to pass in traffic.
The 35mph kickdown has barely any lag
On this video a cocky jerk in a Duramax Chev tried to roll coal on me, I seen him in my mirror put it down he was already in his passing gear, I was so confident I'd smoke him that I waited till he was even with my truck before I put it down, so here's a great example of 2nd gear lag not really making much of a difference:
We raced a second time after this a mile down the highway later, I had it ready in 2nd for that one, he got smoked even harder, so bad that I wound my window down & waved good bye.
