Default Ignition Switch Problems

So I pulled the ignition switch out of the steering column due to my AC not working, it was charred pretty bad, so I replaced it, now the dinging(like when you leave your lights on) won't stop even when you take the key out of the ignition, and the truck fails to start sometimes unless you tilt the steering wheel, mind you this is a brand new duralast ignition switch, what do you think the problem is? Defective switch? Not connected good enough? I also found a non connected wire in the steering column but didn't see anywhere it connected to, any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
