Default Blown rear end on my 06 night runner.

I just blew the rear ended in my 06 dodge night runner. Does anyone know what the rear end ratio is for the truck. It has 4 wheel drive and a 5.7 hemi and I need to fix it soon but idk the ratio.

The most sure way to tell minus counting pinion shaft & axel shaft spins is to look at the back of the rear end and one of the bolts for the diff cover will go through a small metal tag the size of a quarter that will say for instance 3.5 or 3.55 on it. Whats on that tag will be your axel ratio. I believe the rear diff choices for the 3rd Gen rams were 3.23, 3.55, 3.92, 4.10 & 4.56 or something to that effect, you should have one of those diffs, most likely a 3.55 will reside in your truck.

If you're sure the truck wasn't molested through the years, then you could potentially rely on the build sheet that's on the under side of the hood or run your vin through the Dodge websites decoder, but that sometimes takes a bit for them to email back your build sheet.

Otherwise jack the truck up and put it in neutral and count the tire spins vs the pinion spins.

3.73s on 2500 and 3500s. If the truck has stock 20s, it's likely to be 3.92

If it hasn't been altered, go to the Dodge site and enter in your vin to get a pdf build sheet. Will tell you how it was built. As stated, most likely 3.92's.
