Default Flashing brake indicator

I recently purchased a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.7 Hemi engine. I added an electric brake to pull my camper and as soon as I plugged the end into the factory plug the brake indicator light began flashing. I decided to unplug it to see if that made a difference and it's still flashing. I contacted the local Dodge dealership and the tech said it was probably the brake switch but that it wouldn't hurt to drive the truck with the flashing brake light. I replaced the brake switch and it's still flashing. I then drove the truck and with in 20-30 minutes the abs light came on and the brake stayed on without flashing. So I unhooked the negative side of the battery and then reconnected it after a while. I am now back to the flashing brake light indicator but no abs light. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you use the factory pigtail under the dash?

Did you use a 4 flat to 7 pin plug. Or wire a 7 way? Or did the truck have one? Do you have a trailer plug tester?

The only thing I did was plug the 4 wire plug from the electric brake into the factory plug under the dash and that is when the problems began. I do not have trailer plug tester but I do have a multi meter if that would help.

UPDATE!!! After checking all the fuses, I unplugged the brake from the factory plug and then removed the negative side of the battery to see if maybe the new brake was bad and this may reset the computer. Well when I hooked the cable back up I had the same flashing light. After thinking about it for several days I thought to check to make sure the emergency brake released all the way WHICH IT DID NOT!! Once I reached down and pulled it up by hand the light went off. So I plugged the brake back into the plug and the light remained off. So problem solved and I want to say thanks to p38251 for your replies and I hope this may be helpful to others in the future.
