Default 06 hemi swap

i found the piston from the driver side rear of the motor, closest to the firewall inside my oil pan shattered in a bunch of little pieces and I was calling around for motors. Mostly everyone I talked to asked for the eighth didgit of my vin number. I found one at a mechanics shop and bought it cause the deal was to good to pass up. He's a friend of someone I know and isn't trying to pull a fast one on me but he told me the vin numbers don't matter the difference in the motors is one has the egr valve and the other one does not have the egr valve. Can someone please explain to me the difference or if it matters. My brother and I are planning on swapping the motor out this week.

The difference in motors with the vin number with a 2 and the other motors with a d. And would either motor interchange with each other.

Difference between the 1500 (with EGR) and 2500 (without EGR) engine. Would be a bolt in, but if you didn't want a CEL you'd need the EGR.
