Help with electrical power dist box 04 1500 5.7
Hi, been reading everything I could find on this forum about corroded distribution boxes causing no starts and light problems.
My 04 Ram 1500 SLT 4 x 4 5.7 Hemi just would not crank or start one day. After much debate with mechanic he replaced the computer which fixed nothing. I got new distribution box from a wrecked truck in Texas we put it in and it started right up.
The problem is the horn directions all lights brake lights no longer work. Interestingly, the low beams now stay on no matter what.
We install the old power distribution box and we were back to a no start with all of the other problems I listed. We've checked all the connections for corrosion , and verified Dielectric grease coverage everywhere but the problem persists with the lights and Horn. Anybody have any ideas? ...frustrated.

Trying to put the problems in two categories, old ipm, and new ipm.
Was it no-crank-no-start AND light problems with the old ipm?
Then lights and horn with the new ipm?
Did the horn work originally?
Are they the same light problems?
Any current trouble codes?
I guess you checked all the fuses and made sure they were all seated.

Do you have a test light probe and a multimeter?
Make sure that there is voltage on both sides of the fuses. Some are hot all the time, but for some, the ignition switch has to be in a certain position to get voltage.
Do you get any clicks or anything when you try to start it?
Do you have a copy of the service manual or diagrams?
Are there any dash lights at all?
And no exterior lights work except for the low beams?
Horn constantly on or intermittent?
Sorry for all these questions, but I'm about to get into the wiring diagrams and need as much info as possible.
I'll be back.
