Default Varying engine temp.

Hi all, can someone please help. my 4.7 1500 Ram has started to overheat when I drive over 2000 RPM, the temp goes up above the halfway mark when I work the motor, almost into the red, if I ease off it will drop down to halfway. The temp did stay at halfway no matter how hard I hit the gas, up until recently, what could it be?

Clogged radiator or bad water pump, probably. Keep running it hot and it won't matter.

Won't it warp the head if it runs too hot?

Yep, for any length of time from what I've read.

He's teasing you. Need to find out why it's running high. Any coolant leaks? Keep the overflow reservoir filled to the line on it. Don't use tap water. Use distilled water and antifreeze mixed 50/50. When it's cooled, take the radiator cap off and check to see if the radiator is full. Get a new radiator cap. How does the coolant look? How long has it been since it was flushed and replaced?

Seriously! Like I said, keep running it hot - it won't matter. And now it doesn't.
