Default What model year 4.7 engine can I use in my 2002 Ram?

Hi I am looking for some help regarding the 4.7 engines. I have a 2002 1500 with a 4.7l engine. What other 4.7 engine model years can I use in my truck? I have found a 2008 engine from a commander as well as a 2000 4.7. I have found some information that ‘sort of’ pertains to what I am asking but not specifically. I have read that the tone rings are different on different years as well as possibly the controllers being different (JTEC vs NGC). Any clarification would be GREATLY appreciated. What years used what?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not an expert, but if memory serves, any 4.7 should bolt right in. However, if you plan on using the '08s computer, then you'll need to bring all that harness along...including the NGC module. As an '02, I think yours has a separate PCM and TCM. My '07 has two knock sensors, but I think yours has one. Don't know about the toner rings.

The engine will be NGC also. They're different in the way they read the cam/crank. Don't go down that rabbit hole.
