Default "The Half Ton Wobble!"

I am a new member!
I have been reading posts on this site for about 10 years and have gained a great deal of knowledge to perform work on my truck so I am grateful.

This post is about something I used to get really stressed out about when my truck was new. At or around 40 mph the truck will lope or shimmy and it does it more during cooler weather when the truck is still cold. I spent thousands of dollars trying to figure out the problem. I put new wheels, tires, alignment, road-force testing, cross-drilled rotors, drive shaft balancing, speed shop even had it up running through the gears and tried to figure it out. The best they could say is it was in the 545RFE. I have a trans tune and that did not change anything either.
I had truly stopped worrying about this until I saw under new posts this guy with a 2wd 05 model posted on a 2 year old thread about the wobble on the 2500's about his doing the same thing and I answered with a reply. Maybe he will see this one and get something from some of the members who may have had the same thing going on!!!

Thanks,
Chris

Death wobble is usually a SFA issue. It's been doing it since new?

Default haf ton wobble

I got the truck when it was a year old and yes I think that is why whoever had it before me got rid of it along with this one being really bad at warping the cheap factory rotors.
Looks like not many people even get on the 3rd gen ram forum any more. I appreciate the reply.
You are right about the death wobble being restricted to single axle and not IFS suspensions.
This is not a "death wobble" but an irritating shimmy/shaking at around 40mph. My brake specialist even said that radial tires will do that around 45mph. I tend to believe it has something to do with the rake of the truck and the IFS, but then again I cannot say. Chrysler did address this and stated it had to do more with road conditions as well as ambient temperatures.
Honestly Chrysler's summation leads me to believe there are some type of harmonics going on with the suspension and certain roads; distance between expansion joints, etc.
Thanks again for any info. now that everyone has the newer models.
Mine still gets down the road like a scalded dog!!!!
