But are they the 2010+ 6.7's or 2009- 6.7's? The 2009- 6.7's had a few DPF issues that they finally figured out in 2010. (or so it seemed) If you can pick up a decent shape, average miles 3rd Gen with a 5.9 you'd be golden. The 5.9 will last you till long after the rest of the truck has fallen away.

Biggest thing to check with a 100k mi + truck is the same whether its a gas or Diesel. Wheel bearings, ball joints, etc... Basically anything that's attached to the drive train. Dodge has always been know for front end problems so I'd start there.

The newest 6.7s that I've found in my price range have been 2007s, noting much newer than that, at least not in my looking so far.

Unfortunately the link in the last post is't working.

I just purchased a 1999 Ram 5.9 2500 series with 83k original miles. It looks like it just came off the showroom floor. Bought it from the original owner. He just replaced the trains, brakes, tires, batteries and has all the service records. Pick it up tomorrow. Can't wait.

And the jealousy sets in... :P Congratulations! Sounds like you found a great deal. Dad did the last looking at my Durango this morning and it definitely dropped a valve seat, so I will be truck shopping. While out looking, I did decide to also consider a Ram 1500 with a HEMI in it. As much as I want a diesel, the HEMI would still be more than capable of towing the kind of trailers I'd likely be wanting to tow, the appeal of the diesel to me is still that compared to what they're built for doing, I'd be very easy on it. I put a lot of miles on vehicles it seems, and I want a truck that will take those miles.
