2004 FORD SVT LIGHTNING VS. 2004 DODGE RAM SRT-10
Just found this interesting, BUT I STILL WOULD NEVER GO FORD !!!!

Um, I guess I could save money over the Lightning and just use forced induction on a Hemi RC. Then I'd save even more money. And still be faster.
Amazing how much money a S/C and some go fast goodies make the price of the Ford increase.
I have driven both and for all out performance, I prefer the Ram. For an everyday driver, I'd go with the Ford. However, Why buy a Ford Lightning when they can't even make one in thier new body style. That'd be like us buying a 2nd Gen ram body style SS/T. Not that they aren't good looking, but why have an old body style on a 40K vehicle.
100% marketing spin.

That's the first logical comparison I have ever seen in the Dodge vs. Ford, Chevy vs. Dodge..... arguement.
We all must admit that the Ford is a superior truck. The only thing the Ram has going for it is price and a slightly less selling price.

While I am not a fan of Chevy, I will not knock them. When I went truck shopping it was either the Ford or the Dodge.
I like my Dodge for its handling, good looks, 6ft bed with QC, interior materials and ergonomics.
I prefer the Ford for its smoothride and a bit bigger room in the rear. The reason I went with the Dodge was mostly the price as a similarly priced Ford was thousands more. That was huge in my book. I also don't like buying a first year vehicle (this was in 2004).
Am I satisfied with my purchase, you bet. Do I think that Ford is superior, no. It basically comes down to personal preference.
This could become a touchy subject with some people.
My observation has been that regardless of what you buy, you will get a good one or a bad one.
Compare todays trucks with those of just 10 years ago and look at the improvments in quality control.
I am not a fan of the Fords. I was back in the 80's. Owned several Mustang GT's. Aside from the Corvette it was the only thing to buy that ran worth a darn off the showroom floor.
Nobody built anything then that compares to now in quality or horsepower.
To each his own.

Tit for tat...The Furd is still ugly. Even if its fast...you know what...its still ugly. The Ram is by far the most beautiful truck ever made. If it entered a beauty pagent with all the other trucks ever made the Ram would still win! And as far a performance...put a S/C on a Hemi...then lets talk. F**k Furd and double f**k the Lightning!!! The SRT-10 is nice but it is over priced. But it's f**kin beautiful!
Here is what I think.
They are all trucks, and we are all truck guys.
I have a 1500 Ram, not an SRT-10, but;
Personally I like the looks of the Ram the most, so I own one. But I wouldn't push the others outta bed if you know what I mean.
The svt is supercharged. To compare it a stock ram is foolish. For a true comparison, comare it to a super or turbocharged Ram of around the same weight. Compare it to a forced injection SRT would be even more foolish. They can make almost 1000hp.
The Rams are heavier. They are real trucks. They can carry and tow a hell of lot more than an svt.
My challenge in my 6000lb, 450RWHP turbocharged 04 QC, 4X4 Hemi Ram to any lightning is this;
We go 3 outta 4.
1 = 1/4 mile ET.
2 = 1/4 mile ET with enough weight in the back of the svt to make it as heavy as mine.
3 = Tug of war.
4 = 1/8 mile in a foot of snow.
I'll concede to #1 right now, so lets try the other 3.
My point is if you want to have a 1/4 mile truck, its gotta be light, make power, hook up, etc. But it ain't worth chit in the winter for traction or for heavy loads or towing.
I bought my truck because I do a lot of stuff, not just race. I need the tow capacity, I like the ride of the heavier truck better, I need the 4 door for my stuff and buds when I go hunting and other folks like my parents, I need the payload capacity and I need the 4X4 for winter because this is my daily driver and I live in winter, snow bound, NJ.
