Unhappy NEWBIE with CV Issues...

Hello!
So this is my first truck, I've previously stuck with SUV's but I moved to Alaska from Colorado in July and it seemed like a good time to step up to a truck. The truck is a 2008 1500 with the 5.7 and I love it. Due to the first letters of the license plate reading JEF I have affectionately named it Jeff. (I know it should be a more feminine name but Jeff kinda just stuck). I bought it knowing it needed a passenger side CV axle, but I have done these before so I thought how hard could it be? Well spoiler, very hard. Last weekend a buddy and I tried to replace it and after two hours of pounding and using a slide hammer we gave up. Today I called the local dealer and they said that in the 08's the CV can get stuck and wanted $900 to repair it. I really do not have the money nor desire to pay that much. I've looked and googled to no avail as to what the dealer was talking about. Does anyone have any prior experience and tips as to how on earth to replace the damn thing?
Thanks in advance!
-Riley

Been soaking it all week with pen oil. Where would be a good spot to add the heat?
