Default Need to know if this engine will fit.

I have a 2008 with a 4.7 engine is shot will a 2005 dodge ram 4.7 fit? it has 2 different part numbers but all looks the same except i need to swap out sensors.

Physically fit yes. But the 08+ 4.7 is a different engine than it's predecessors. Newer version has different heads (twin plug) and cams. Not a plug and play operation. You'd have to retune the computer to run it properly, not even sure if they have the same crank tone wheel tooth count, plus try to figure out how to fire the second set of coils.

Well basically my heads are good so i can re use them tone ring says the same so i think i should be good if i just swap bad block with the 05 good one?

If you have another 05 block, yeah, plug and play. If you could make it work, the 08 engine would be more fun, 08+ 4.7's are rated at 310hp.

OK so from what i can understand the block numbers match but i have to use the heads off the bad engine and anything else that looks diffrent and hopefully it works guess il find out lol

I've learned 2005-2007 4.7L with the NGC computer (4 plugs in ECM) w/ EGR will interchange . (plug in play)
They added knock sensors in 05-07 & EGR with 32 tooth TONE WHEEL &went to NGC ECM .
